1. My Preparation Strategy:-

Material Science is a tough subject. For this subject you need to read material supplied by IEI along with a good text book referred by IEI. Material Science and Engineering by V Raghavan is a good book for this. I have studied the book Materials Science And Engineering by IP Singh and was very good for understanding. Along with this you can get Materials Science 10 Years previous exams soled papers for better understanding of the exam pattern and group C questions. You need to put in hard work for Materials Science Subject.

2. Download Video Tutorials:-

You can Download excellent study materials for Materials Science from IIT Professors from NPTEL web site. Even you can watch Video Tutorials for this Subject, Video tutorials by IIT Delhi professors are excellent and very helpful for understanding the subject very easily. I am giving the sample video here you can download videos freely from NPTEL web Site. For this check my post Section B All branches/ All subjects Download Free Video Tutorials, Excellent Study Notes prepared by IIT.

Then I have bought NPTEL DVDs for Materials Science which has 40 Hrs lessons by IIT Professor. These 40 Hrs video lessons are free to download from NPTEL click here to access and youtube (13 GB). However, you can get these videos in DVDs or in 16 GB SD Card.

For the Materials Science subject, I have searched the NPTEL site and selected the video course Lecture Series on Materials Science by Prof.SK. Gupta, Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi.

This matches exactly with the syllabus of the AMIE Materials Science Subject and very useful for better understanding.

Its like classroom coaching by IIT Professor only for you at your home or wherever you want. If you want to get the course, click the button below and select "video" in the type of course and type "Materials Science" and click on the search button.

And then select the course Materials Science by Prof.SK. Gupta, IIT Delhi from the list of courses and add to cart. You will get the DVDs or SD Card in minimum possible time. I got within 3 days.

2. Material Science and Engineering by V Raghavan

About this Book:-

This well-established and widely adopted book, now in its Sixth Edition, provides a thorough analysis of the subject in an easy-to-read style. It analyzes, systematically and logically, the basic concepts and their applications to enable the students to comprehend the subject with ease.

Key Features:-

• All relevant units and constants listed at the beginning of each chapter
• A note on SI units and a full table of conversion factors at the beginning
• A new chapter on ‘Nanomaterials’ describing the state-of-art information
• Examples with solutions and problems with answers
• About 350 multiple choice questions with answers

The book begins with a clear exposition of the background topics in chemical equilibrium, kinetics, atomic structure and chemical bonding. Then follows a detailed discussion on the structure of solids, crystal imperfections, phase diagrams, solid-state diffusion, and phase transformations. This provides a deep insight into the structural control necessary for optimizing the various properties of materials. The mechanical properties covered include elastic, anelastic and viscoelastic behavior, plastic deformation, creep, and fracture phenomena. The next four chapters are devoted to a detailed description of electrical conduction, superconductivity, semiconductors, and magnetic and dielectric properties. The final chapter on ‘Nanomaterials’ is an important addition to the sixth edition. It describes state-of-art developments in this new field.
